How to Load Existing ROI

This instruction shows how to import previously exported ROIs (see how to export a ROI in Export ROI Data) or externally defined ROIs into CartoScope.

This is useful for bringing in ROIs defined in other software (e.g., ImageJ, QPath) or from previous CartoScope sessions.

1. Prepare your ROI file

Please have your ROI file ready, which should be in GeoJSON (.json, .geojson) format.

2. Import your ROI file

  1. Open ROI Drawer: Click the ROI icon in the right sidebar to open the ROI drawer.
  2. Click Upload: In the ROI drawer toolbar, click the Upload icon.
  3. Select File: A file dialog will appear. Select the GeoJSON file from your computer that contains your ROIs.

4. Review

The imported ROIs will immediately appear on the map and be listed in the ROI List within the drawer.

Tips

It's recommended to check whether your ROI is "Fully Loaded" or "Partially Loaded" in the ROI List.

Next

Once imported, you can use these ROIs for:

  • refining: Adjusting their boundaries.
  • Analysis: Comparing gene expression between ROIs.
