Bookmark Workspace

Save the entire state of your current session into a bookmark. This allows you to pause your analysis and resume later, or share your exact workspace configuration with others.

Functionality

The Bookmark feature creates a persistent snapshot of your current analysis session.

  • State Preservation: Saves the exact configuration of your workspace, including active layers, zoom level, color settings, and open drawers.
  • Unique Access URL: Generates a dedicated, permanent link to retrieve the saved state.
  • Access Control: Supports distinct privacy settings: public and unlisted.

Why usage bookmarks?

Unlike Share Link or Export Map View, bookmarks preserve your analysis context. This ensures that collaborators see exactly the same view and settings as you.

Bookmark Privacy

CartoScope supports two types of bookmarks:

  • public: Public bookmarks are accessible to all users and are listed in the Bookmark Catalog. The author's name (based on your Profile settings) and affiliation (optional) will be visible to others.
  • unlisted: Unlisted bookmarks are only accessible via their unique URL. They do not appear in the public catalog, ensuring privacy while still being sharable.

Interface

Bookmark

The feature is accessed via the Bookmark icon in the Top Bar.

  • Icon: Represented by a bookmark symbol.
  • Dialog: Clicking the icon opens a dialog where you can:
    • Enter a title and description.
    • Select the privacy setting (Public or Unlisted).
    • Update Profile: If creating a public bookmark, you can update your Display Name and Affiliation directly from the dialog to ensure proper attribution.
    • Create and copy the bookmark link.
