What is Alias Source?¶
In CartoScope, alias source identifies where the currently displayed alias came from.
| Source | Meaning | How to use |
|---|---|---|
| Curated | The curated default alias table referenced by the factor's alias field in catalog.yaml |
If available, displayed automatically when the factor layer is loaded |
| AI-inferred | The AI-generated alias table referenced by the factor's alias_ai field in catalog.yaml |
If available, it can be used as an alternative alias source. Instead of being displayed immediately by default, it requires the user to click "Load AI-inferred alias" |
| Upload | A TSV alias table uploaded in the Factor Drawer | It requires users to upload a TSV file in the Factor Drawer to apply the aliases to the active factor layer |
| Manual | Aliases edited manually in the Factor Drawer | Edit aliases directly in the Factor Drawer |
Curated vs AI-inferred
If both curated and AI-inferred aliases exist, CartoScope prefers Curated over AI-inferred.
