What are Layer Types?

In CartoScope, a layer type identifies the overall category of a layer.

The current layer types include:

  • Background: Background layers provide spatial context, such as histology or staining images.
  • Gene: Gene layers show the spatial distribution of one gene.
  • Gene Group: Gene Group layers combine multiple genes into a single layer.
  • Factor: Factor layers show analytical results, such as factor analysis outputs or cell-based results.
  • ROI: ROI layers represent user-defined Regions of Interest used for selection, comparison, and export.
