What is Subsampling Rate?

When CartoScope shows Subsampling rate (approx.) >= X%, it means the viewer is currently rendering only part of the full-resolution data to keep the map responsive.

  • Subsampling rate: the fraction of data currently rendered compared with the full-resolution data for that view
  • Approx.: the rate is estimated from loaded data size, so it is not exact
  • >=: the actual displayed fidelity is at least that value, and may be slightly higher

Tips

Zoom in further. As the visible region gets smaller, CartoScope can load more of the underlying data until you reach the raw view for that area.
