What is Alias?¶
Alias: a human-readable label assigned to a factor to replace generic numerical indices with biological interpretations (such as cell type names or tissue regions).
Where is an alias used?
- Factor Drawer: Displayed in the factor lists, overview tables, and detail panels.
- Inspection: Displayed when inspecting spatial coordinates to quickly identify dominant cell types/factors.
Why use aliases?
- Enhance Interpretability: Replace internal factor IDs/indices (e.g.,
Factor 3) with clearer biological labels (e.g.,Purkinje Neurons). - Improve Readability: Improve readability in factor summaries, lists, and inspection results.
- Custom Attribution: Support curated naming systems for publication and sharing.
