Which Alias Is Displayed for My Factor Layer?

When you view a factor layer in CartoScope, aliases are displayed according to the following priority:

  1. Default Display: When you add a factor layer, CartoScope displays the dataset's Curated aliases by default when available.

  2. What is available: When AI-inferred aliases is available, the "Alias" button will be shown as blue.

  3. User Customizations: You can choose to customize aliases by the following methods. Then your customized aliases will take precedence and be displayed for that layer.

    • uploading an alias file (.tsv);
    • manually editing factor names in the Factor Drawer;
    • loading the AI-inferred aliases by clicking the blue "Alias" button in the top toolbar, if AI-inferred aliases are available.

  4. Resetting to Defaults: You can return to the original dataset default aliases at any time by selecting Reset Alias in the Factor Drawer.
