Top Bar¶
The Top Bar is your primary navigation and control center in CartoScope, providing persistent access to global controls, drawers toggles, settings, and sharing options.
Interface¶
Below is a list of all buttons and components available in the Top Bar.
1. Left Controls¶
From left to right:
- Home: Returns you to the Data Catalog or landing page.
- Restart: Restarts the current session. This will clear all custom layers and selections, and reset the map view and settings to their default states.
- Layer Toggle: Opens or closes the Layer Drawer sidebar on the left, where you manage visualization layers.
2. Central Controls¶
From left to right:
- Session Title: Displays the name or ID of the current session. If it is a multi-sample session, click the edit button to open the Edit Session dialog to control selected datasets, layout, and naming. This dialog is similar to the Set Up Session dialog.
- Gene: Toggles the Gene Drawer on the right, allowing you to search and visualize specific genes.
- Factor: Toggles the Factor Drawer, where you can explore spatial factors and cluster-based layers.
- ROI: Toggles the ROI Drawer, enabling you to create and manage specific areas for analysis.
- Inspect: Activates the Inspector Drawer. When active, clicking on the map reveals detailed information about that specific location.
3. Right Controls¶
From left to right:
- Overview Map Controller: Toggles the visibility of the mini overview map in the bottom-right corner.
- Help Controller: Toggles Help mode. When enabled, hovering over interface elements will display help tooltips.
- Export: Opens the export menu to download the current map view as a high-resolution PNG image or PDF document.
- Share Link: Copies a unique URL to your clipboard that captures the current dataset state, allowing you to share exactly what you are seeing with others.
- Bookmark: Save the current view state—including scale, layers, and drawer configurations—as a bookmark (requires login). This facilitates sharing specific views with others.
- Profile: Manage your user account, log in, or log out.
MULTI-SAMPLE SESSION FEATURE
In Multi-Sample Sessions, the Top Bar includes additional persistent controls:
- Edit Session Title Button: Click the edit icon next to the session title to open the Edit Session dialog.
- Sample Drawer Button: Toggles the Sample Drawer for custom sample labeling, contrast setup, Chi-squared vs DESeq2 testing, and volcano plot analysis.
- Grid Layout Editor: Opens the grid layout panel to adjust rows/cols, swap sample slots, or export session layout YAML.
- External Catalog Tabs: Switch between single dataset exploration tabs (
Single Data Tab) and multi-sample catalog tabs (Multi Data Tab).
