What Happens to Comparisons When Reordering Slots?

When you create sample labels (e.g., Group 1 vs. Group 2) and configure statistical sample comparisons (Chi-squared or DESeq2-inspired models) in the Sample Drawer, CartoScope ties all label assignments and comparison contrast pairs directly to Sample IDs (catalogId), rather than grid slot index positions.

The following will happen when you reorder the grid slots:

  • Analysis Preserved: All sample label assignments, contrast group pairs, pseudobulk aggregations, and volcano plot results remain 100% intact.
  • Automatic Canvas Highlight Tracking: When you select a sample group in the Sample Drawer to highlight member slides on the map, CartoScope highlights the correct sample slides regardless of their new positions in the grid layout.
  • Statistical Validity Maintained: Statistical calculations rely on the sample's underlying count data and dataset metadata ID, which remain completely unaffected when slot visual layout positions change.
