What are Layer Types?¶
Layer Type: The overall category of a layer. It represents what type of data the layer contains.
| Layer Type | Description |

| Background | Background layers provide spatial context, such as histology or staining images. |
| Gene | Gene layers show the spatial distribution of one gene. |
| Gene Group | Gene Group layers combine multiple genes into a single layer. |
| Factor | Factor layers show analytical results, such as factor analysis outputs or cell-based results. |
| ROI | ROI layers represent user-defined Regions of Interest used for selection, comparison, and export. |
