What is Typical Factor Layer Naming Scheme?

Factor Layer Names: Names that describe the analysis method and spatial resolution parameters used to generate the layer.

Name Pattern Description
FICTURE - N factor LDA with Wum hexagons A FICTURE analysis result, where N is the total number of factors and W is the hexagon size (in micrometers).
cell: Xenium cell segmentation (Xenium Ranger) A cell-segmentation-based result generated by 10x Genomics Xenium Ranger.
cell: Visium HD cell segmentation (Space Ranger) A cell-segmentation-based result generated by 10x Genomics Space Ranger.
sqW: Visium HD WxWum square bins (Space Ranger) A square-bin-based result generated by Space Ranger, where W is the square bin size (e.g. 2um or 8um).

What do factor layer names indicate?

These names indicate key attributes of the factor layer:

  • Method: Which analysis pipeline (FICTURE, Xenium Ranger, Space Ranger) produced the layer.
  • Unit Type: Whether the layer is cell-based, hex-based, or square-bin-based.
  • Resolution: The spatial resolution or bin size used during processing.
