How to Set Scale Bar¶
This guide explains how to configure the physical Scale Bar on the map canvas, toggle its visibility, switch between automatic and custom physical lengths, and apply scale settings across multi-sample viewports.
1. Open Scale Bar Settings¶
In the Map Toolkit floating sidebar on the map canvas, click the Scale Bar Settings button (). The Scale Bar configuration popover will open.
2. Customize Scale Bar¶
2.A Toggle Scale Bar Visibility¶
In the Scale Bar popover:
- Toggle On to display the scale bar at the bottom-right corner of the map.
- Toggle Off to hide the scale bar.
2.B Choose Scale Mode¶
When the scale bar is enabled (On), select your preferred Scale Mode:
- Automatic: The scale bar length updates dynamically as you zoom in or out, automatically choosing an optimal distance unit (e.g., 50 µm, 200 µm, 1 mm).
- Customize: Fixes the scale bar to a specific physical length regardless of zoom level.
- Preset Slider: Drag the slider to quickly choose common preset values (e.g., 10 µm, 50 µm, 100 µm, 500 µm, 1 mm, 5 mm).
- Numeric Input: Enter an exact distance value in the text field.
- Unit Toggle: Switch between µm (micrometers) and mm (millimeters).
Apply Settings Across Multi-Sample Grid
In multi-sample sessions, you can synchronize scale bar visibility and custom length settings globally across all grid slots by checking the "Apply to all" checkbox at the top-right of the popover header.
